Tropical Court Residents
The hurricane season begins on June 1st and ends on November 30th. The following is some information that you should be aware of during this season.
A hurricane watch means that a hurricane is possible in the area. It is issued 48 hours before possible landfall in the area. This is the time to be prepared! At this time it is critically important to remove all outside chairs, tables, pots etc. and place them out of harm’s way. This will prevent flying objects from damaging your unit or those of your neighbors.
A hurricane warning means that landfall is imminent within 36 hours.
There are many sources of information during hurricane watches and warnings especially in newspapers and on radio and television. Here are some other sources you can access:
- www.scgov.net – Sarasota County Weather, Shelters, Supplies
- www.AccuWeather.com – Local Weather Forecasts
- Weather.com – Emergency Supplies, Doppler Radar
- www.nhc.noaa.gov – The National Hurricane Center
Here’s hoping we don’t need to access this information and have a peaceful season!
